Class Participation Rubric

"What Does Class Participation Look Like?"  (Word doc) is a participation rubric by Dr. Nancy Chick of the Center for Teaching at Vanderbilt University.

It offers a checklist of specific, assessable student behaviors sorted into the following letter-grade categories:

A - "Engages in class discussion by frequently doing the following" (7 points)

B - "Participates in class discussion by doing the following" (5 points)

C - "Participates in class discussion by doing the following" (7 points)

D - "Rarely participates in class discussion, and then primarily by doing the following" (5 points)

F - "Does not participate in class discussion in a constructive manner, instead doing the following" (5 points)
